Elmhurst Art Museum's
11th Annual Art in the Park
A Juried Show of Fine Art, Craft, and Design

presented by Renewal by Andersen
Made possible through support of Elmhurst Park District and City of Elmhurst

Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6, 2007

ELMHURST. Illinois – Art in the Park: Elmhurst Art Museum’s 11th Annual Festival of Fine Art, Craft and Design presented by Renewal by Andersen will take place Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6, 2006, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the grounds of the Elmhurst Art Museum, 150 Cottage Hill Avenue, in Elmhurst’s Wilder Park.

There will be 110 outstanding artists exhibiting at this exciting weekend-long event with live entertainment and an assortment of food for sale by select vendors. Be sure to bring the entire family to enjoy the artists, music, food and other fun activities!

The Art in the Park festival, produced by RGL Marketing for the Arts, Inc. with promotional support provided by Chicago Reader, DuPage Woman Newspaper, Elmhurst Press, Insider, The Doings, The Elmhurst Independent and WDCB-90.9FM is a wonderful place to find unique handcrafted jewelry, paintings, ceramics, photography, sculpture, furniture, glass, mixed media and fiber art selections. Discover one-of-a-kind gifts for Mother’s Day, graduations, birthdays and springtime celebrations.

The Elmhurst Art Museum will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on May 6 and May 7 in conjunction with the festival. Special children’s activities will be provided by Elmhurst Art Museum from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day.

Raku in the Parking Lot will take place with artist Ken Nance. Japanese potters invented the Raku firing method of ceramics long ago. Visitors will be able to pick a pot to glaze and watch as the piece is fired in a gas-fueled kiln and transferred into a metal can full of sawdust and excelsior where a magical transformation occurs. All creations will go home that day!

Also, don’t miss viewing the Museum’s current Transparent Watercolor Society of America 31st Annual Exhibition that highlights more than 75 of the best transparent watercolor works in the nation. These diverse paintings provide a wonderful backdrop for a weekend full of art, and admission to the Museum is FREE!

The Elmhurst Art Museum’s award-winning modern museum structure incorporates the Ludwig Mies van der Rohe-designed McCormick House, one of three such residences designed by the internationally known architect, and contains museum galleries, an education center and a variety of outdoor sculpture. Located only 15 miles west of Chicago and adjacent to the Metra West train line, the Museum offers public tours and programs, guest lectures and art classes on a regular basis. Its mission is to enrich the lives of its visitors by broadening their knowledge, increasing their sensitivity to the fine arts and sparking the development of their own creative talents.
