The Unsentimental Journey of Seymour Rosofsky focuses on the artist’s works on canvas with pieces ranging from very early in the artists career all the way to the year prior to the artist's passing.
An extraordinarily prolific artist, Seymour Rosofsky (1924-1981) produced many thousands of works during his lifetime. Rosofsky's canvas works address dark themes while displaying aggressiveness in terms of concept and even in terms of physical application oil paint. This exhibition shows the arch of his vision that demonstrates a gradual progression from his earlier expressionistic works to his later, more surrealistic compositions. The complicated drama and the romance of human interactions is generally the subject of Rosofsky’s expressionistic oils. He specifically concerned himself with the complex, murky, and often sordid dynamics of amorous relationships. Eschewing sentimentality, Rosofsky is often direct about the passions involved in such affairs, not shy of the sloppy, chaotic, and highly emotionally charged nature of such realities.
