Exhibition Etheria Soars
Elmhurst Art Museum Presents Artist Doug Fogelson
ELMHURST, IL – The Elmhurst
Art Museum (EAM) will host Chicago artist Doug Fogelson: Etheria
from August 18 through October 7, 2007. This display of photography
and sound inspires contemplation of the relationship between time
and space. Doug Fogelson creates an atmospheric experience with
large panoramic photographs that make the viewer feel as if he is
floating among the clouds.
Mr. Fogelson photographs sky and
ground while traveling by airplane. “His art focuses on thoughts and
feelings you can experience during air travel that chronicles the
passage of time and distance,” states EAM curator Melissa Dahlquist.
“Doug’s fascination with time travel and photographic technology is
what inspires this body of work.” By overlapping multiple exposures,
the images collapse into themselves while expanding the viewpoint of
the observer. Through these images, Fogelson’s work reflects the
lifespan of the individual, an awareness of mortality, and a concept
of heaven.
