Joe Hadamik will be giving a pottery demonstration of the Eastern European firing technique, Obvara. Using the potter’s wheel, he will share his method of making ceramic pots for this type of firing—which requires dipping a burning hot ceramic piece into a flour and yeast mixture to create patterns often resembling wood or animal prints.
Hadamik lives and works in the Chicago suburb of Joliet, Illinois. A multi talented artist, Hadamik works primarily with stoneware and porcelain wheel-thrown and hand-built pottery pieces. His primary focus is producing functional pieces for the home, but he also creates sculptural pieces from clay which may incorporate string, wire, fiber optics and acrylic paint.
