Join the Elmhurst Artist Guild for a free artist talk by Maggie Capettini. She will demonstrate her method of painting in oils with painting knives. Using a photo reference, she will begin a painting and bring it close to completion. Invested in the traditions of plein air painting and painting from life, Capettini’s oil painting subjects include landscape, figures from life, still life, and architecture. Painted exclusively with knives, her works are big on expressive color, rich texture, and bold shapes.
Born, raised, and currently residing in the Chicagoland area, Capettini holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in studio art and a Master of Arts in Teaching and has studied at Palette and Chisel in Chicago. Capettini has won awards for her paintings, and her works are held in museum collections in Warrenville and West Chicago, Illinois. Her work can be seen at www.maggiecapettini.com
