MODERN IN THE MIDDLE: Residential Architecture in Chicago & Suburbs, 1929-1975
Sabatino to lecture on his upcoming co-authored book. Modern in the Middle: Residential Architecture in Chicago & Suburbs, 1929–1975, is an architectural history of modernist houses realized in Chicago and its suburbs during the Twentieth Century. By bringing in dialogue two complementary yet distinctive strands of modernity – organicisim and rationalism – co-authors Susan Benjamin and Michelangelo Sabatino explore the substantial yet overlooked role that Chicago-based architects played in the development of twentieth-century domesticity in Chicago, America and beyond.
