Opening Reception for New Exhibitions: On Wonder, Mind, and Magic and Near Eternity

Join us for an evening of art, cocktails, and community.

Your $25 ticket includes gallery access, drinks, and light bites, all while supporting the new Teen Art Program launching Fall 2026 at Elmhurst Art Museum.

This program empowers local teens to explore contemporary art beyond the classroom, connect with peers, and see themselves as part of a creative community. Through hands-on experiences and exposure to working artists and art careers, participants don’t just learn about art, they create it, share it, and lead with it.

Together, we’re building a space where teens can:
Connect with peers in an inclusive environment
Learn from contemporary artists and ideas
Create and share their own work
Lead by shaping a final showcase of their vision

In 2026, what should monuments be made of—and what should they be about? In this participatory drawing and collage workshop, we’ll explore the kinds of images, stories, and materials that shape our attention today, both online and IRL. What content do we return to again and again? Which memes circulate endlessly, and which moments or ideas actually stick in our long-term memory? Together we’ll consider what themes—social, cultural, personal, or political—feel urgent enough to be made visible in public space. Join exhibiting artist Jeremiah Hulsebos-Spofford for a hands-on mixed-media session that uses drawing and collage as tools to collectively imagine and remix new forms of monuments for the future.

This event is made possible through a grant from the JCS Arts, Health and Education Fund of DuPage Foundation.

**About the McCormick House**

The McCormick House is a single-family home designed in 1952 by Mies van der Rohe, one of the great architects of the 20th Century. It is one of only three free-standing residences designed and built by Mies in the United States--and one of only two open to the public.

Doors open at 6:30pm / Performance starts at 7 pm

Multiple musical styles, one epic night. Experience an evening of art and sound at the Museum. Sima Cunningham, Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine, and Mariachi Cuatro Vientos will perform sets inspired by the Museum’s summer exhibitions. Guests will enjoy drinks, light bites, and admission to the Museum’s galleries.
