Constructing a Hero

Inspired by Hebru Brantley’s 2017 solo show at the museum, our newest guide explores the meaning of the word hero during the COVID-19 pandemic, including an exhibition guide and videos of his work.

Create and illustrate your own original cartoon character using our worksheet and prompts inspired by personal interpretations of heroism. Share your creations and tag us on social media. #MuseumFromHome and #ElmhurstArtMuseum

For our ongoing project Art in the Post, you are invited to contribute to a collaborative mail art project by sharing something about your life during the COVID-19 pandemic. Tell us how you are passing the time, write a poem, or even share a recipe. We’ll exhibit these at the museum after reopening.

Browse our Museum Store to see our featured item of the week - Hebru Brantley: Forced Field (2017) exhibition catalog.
